The Communications Team is responsible for connecting members internally with other members and externally with various companies and alumni. Read on to see if a position on this team is right for you!

Gigi Jones
Chief Outreach Officer
Next year, this position will be, "Chief Communications Officer"
Description: As Chief Outreach Officer, Gigi oversees the Vice President of Meetings, the VP of Power Panel, as well as a small outreach based committee. She helps coordinate visits from successful speakers, as well as treks both in and out of state, and will serve as the moderator of the upcoming Power Panel.
Empower: During her time serving as part of CWIB leadership, Gigi has found that she has learned to listen. “There is a difference between hearing… which you know how to do from day one… and listening.” By learning to focus on the meaning and importance of other people’s words, Gigi has found listening to be helpful with bringing her CWIB colleagues’ thoughts and idea to life.
Prepare: In terms of preparing for a career in the professional environment, Gigi has learned how to delegate work, manage deadlines, complete deliverables, and practice speaking in public. “These skills are pertinent for success in future business roles. Working with our CWIB Executive team has given me a glimpse into what working at a small business would be like.”
Connect: Last spring, Gigi had the opportunity to coordinate a trek to D.C. During the trip, she helped other members land internships with the company she previously interned with. After working with her fellow members in a company setting as well, she was able to get to know members outside of CWIB. “These members are now ladies that I know I can call friends that will be there for me no matter what!”

Sydney Woodward
VP of Mentorship
Description: Sydney holds a leadership position that is new to CWIB. As the VP of Mentorship, her main goal is to “create professional and social bonds between members, leadership, and alumni.” Sydney works with alum to arrange opportunities for current members to connect with strong female business leaders via conference calls, coffee chats, and dinners.
Empower: While working with CWIB’s leadership team, Sydney has gained confidence in her voice and her ideas. “Before CWIB, I was extremely shy and I doubted myself. I have learned so much about my strengths, weaknesses, and passions by serving in this position.”
Prepare: With other CWIB involvements on her resume as well, such as writing for the clubs’ magazine and attending the Harvard Trek, Sydney has found that her involvement taught her how to better brand and sell herself in the business environment. “Being a member of CWIB has given me so much knowledge for my future and … has allowed me to really connect with girls …who are always willing to lend a hand, read a resume, or listen to an elevator pitch.”
Connect: While serving as the VP of Mentorship, Sydney has met with numerous members during coffee chats. She credits this experience with helping her meet other strong and powerful individuals who have inspired and motivated her. Through her connections with members, she thinks it is “amazing how large organizations can create such close bonds.”

Paige Gregory
Outreach Committee Member
Description: Paige currently serves as a member of the CWIB Outreach Committee. “Other members of the Outreach Committee and myself begin by choosing a location. After that, we create a list of potential companies to visit and reach out to them. After our list is finalized, we plan the transportation and housing aspects of the trip.”
Empower: Paige feels her involvement in CWIB has helped her gain skills that are important no matter what area of business you find yourself. “Serving has allowed me to develop my communication skills and my confidence as a leader.”
Prepare: While working with the committee, Paige feels she has developed her communication skills as well as learned how various areas of a business operate. In addition, her involvement with CWIB has helped build her confidence as a future business professional.
Connect: During her time as a member of the Outreach Committee, Paige has met many older members that she wouldn’t have met in her classes. “This has been my favorite aspect of serving on a committee because I am surrounded by so many motivated, inspiring women that I wouldn’t have been in contact with without CWIB.”
Next year, new positions such as, VP Treks, Trek Chair and Mentorship Chair will be added to this committee. To find out more about what these roles entail, contact Ashlin Webster or Maddie Blevins!
