Internships in Washington D.C. for Summer 2018

Summer - a seemingly long lost memory in the snow and ice covering Blacksburg recently. Though warm sunshine and long beach days may seem like a far away dream, May is closer than you might think. With the end of the semester slowly creeping up on us, keep in mind that these summer months can be used for much more than a tan and some extra pocket money. Take a look at these internships still open in the Washington D.C area this summer!

1. The Institute on Business and Government Affairs

For 8 weeks, stay on the George Washington University campus and work with other students to learn more about business and regulation in our nation’s capital! After completing the internship, you will have access to an active network of 16,000 alumni and potential job opportunities!

2. Women’s Rights NonProfit

This internship is perfect for CWIB members, as the primary focus is on advocating for women’s rights. You will be working on social media affairs, marketing strategies and fundraising techniques. If this is your passion, consider becoming an active member in making a difference!

3. Paul Public Charter School

Join the team at one of the first charter schools in Washington, D.C. This internship focuses on Communications and Marketing so your responsibilities will include website updating, social media, curating content, data management, calls to potential students and much more. For $25/hour, this opportunity is definitely one to look into.

4. Fleishman-Hillard

Work as a Public Relations intern at one of the Top 50 Companies for executive women! You will be assigned a point person and work with one of the following practice groups: public affairs, brand marketing & corporate reputation management or health communications and behavior change marketing. This internship is paid and competitive so apply soon!

5. CNN Special Events Intern

One of the most exciting internships available, you would get to work with one of our nation’s most infamous news companies. Your tasks would range from acting as a stand-in during rehearsals to editing videos and researching locations. If you are minoring in communications, this opportunity is calling your name!

6. United States Postal Service

Apply for a 10-week summer internship at the United States Postal Service's (USPS) headquarters in Washington, D.C.! From opportunities in operations to finance to marketing and to engineering, this government agency has a plethora of opportunities to offer. Heather Sangalang interned here last summer as a Change Management intern. She loved being able to meet so many new people (this organization has 640,000+ employees!), work in D.C., and learn about the business side of USPS. She encourages people to apply for this wonderful opportunity!
